Kilwaughter Castle Restoration group at the castle with the Balzani sisters Alessandra and Lorenza Balzani, who travelled from Italy to attend the talk
Alessandra shared the following with the audience:
'My sister and I are very happy to be here tonight in Northern Ireland and especially at Kilwaughter. We are proud to represent the Balzani family in memory of Gwendolina and Nora. I knew Nora from when I was a child and it was fascinating listening to the adults talk about the castle. For us it was like a fairy tale in a far away land. From what I remember Nora was very proud of her Irish roots. We feel excited to be back in Northern Ireland because the Balzani family was originally called Murdoch who came from Scotland or Ireland in twelve hundred before the name was changed to Balzani. Being here is now like the circle is completed and we are also happy to know that Anne is keen to help Kilwaughter Castle to be born again. Thank you for all your support and if we can help we are very happy to do so'.
